I think that better supervision of its officers is a must. Police need support in doing their job. Stress reduction programs need to be instituted more frequently---as police hold a very high stressed position in the jobs they do on the force. I think there is more than one change to be made for police to be effective in doing their jobs as officers in their deterrence of crime. It isn't just one big issue---for there are many issues at hand.
Also I think that the media should not be allowed to portray police negatively as they so often do. I think this should be considered a crime in itself secondary to the dangers it places police in. Information is used against the police in regard to their personal issues in their lives. I think that this definitely should not be allowed to be used by the media.
I think that police should receive more money for what they do. I think more money from the government should go into the police force. I don't think that police should operate on a skeleton staff ever, and I think there should always be back up for police in regard to staffing issues that may come along from time to time.
