- The syllabus is going very fast or was very fast
- Was out of town
- Was unwell
- Just wasn't ready for a exam so soon, will be ready next time
These reasons are given and they prepare themselves for their nest test. Some may
justify their reasons but I bet most of them get the same results. This is the time when
they start considering B-line institutes and fill their entrance examination forms. And
as time progresses they have not left even a single entrance exam, which they will not
give. And even if one doesn't make it to the easiest of the exams one opts for getting
admission into private donation based colleges or get out of the country to pursue the
same dreams.
Now in these entire drama why was these people unable to identify that they were not
made for this stuff. They were scared to hell when they told this stuff to themselves
and promised that they would not even say this to the soul.
The above scenario described is not for the best of lot, nor the worst of lot. The worst
of lot leave this pursuit in the middle and never looks at this option again. People
criticize them, but to me they were real winners as they realized that this nut was not
for them to crack.
Who were the losers then?
The losers are one those who swing between the extremities of best and worst, the
intermediates. They suffer the worst because they don't get what they desire to get
and don't take what they are offered as per their capability. It is their struggle to
achieve the unachievable. They yearn to get into the best when they themselves know
that they do not belong to that category. After trying and losing after some attempts
they settle themselves for the options they have never considered for themselves. But
they do not realize that this is not the end of their problems. And if one does not
identify their true talent they may again end up as an intermediate in every walk of
life. The second example will add to the woes of this intermediate class and a outlook
to what the best of lots do to their lives.
Example 2
The best or worst or intermediate, once they enter in the field of repute which they
even don't approve realize fast that this is not what they yearned for and this is not for
what they burned gallons of midnight oil. This is when pursuit for next best thing
arises depending on the present market scenarios. There are about 2 Lac students
enrolled in engineering colleges pursuing their courses in hell lot of branches of their
choice. What happens that they drift from this course also? The reasons can be
highlighted as follows:
- People are not aware of the curriculum they have to go through
- Subjects are abstruse in nature
- They had something else in their mind, probably a false image
- They thought engineering is all about fun
- They are not able to negotiate with the pace of syllabus
- They find that even after getting admission they face stiff competition
- They don't get or expect cool salaries in campus placements
- They shift to activities which they didn't do in school viz. watching movies,
Adventure trips with friends, dating, boozing, smoking and alike which affects
a large number of college students.
So people look for other options where in they might feel good about themselves. So
they find other options, which too are like mass followers. The hip thing today is
MBA. And I don't know who said, but have heard that B.tech + MBA is the best
option in today's market. Thus, the focus changes again. All are again trapped in this
rat race running for that small piece of cheese, which can be a feast for a select few.
But still all run for it making the winner feel better about it. Apart from these guys,
when the best of lot those in IIT's also see that IIT + IIM is a deadly option and can
earn big rewards for them they too go for it as they cannot see others getting into Bschools
and getting fat pay packets as compared to those in technical lines.
What is
the end result? A very few take up jobs in their field or go for M.S. in the desired field
of specialization. And this blind race has made the options look as if they are not
worth considering. Human is a selfish breed always bothered about the things in
others palette. Consider those who are not as lucky as these guys who don't even get a
job after their graduation and strive only for one job to start off things.
People don't realize but they waste a hell lot of resources in this procedure. The
current scenario in today's job market is, that a deserving candidate has 3-4 job
choices but is running another rat race in which if he wins will kick off all the 3-4
options. And if he fails he may grab one of it. If he grabs one of the options he got it
is well enough, as the options don't come on preference basis, they just come when
they have to come. But defying all these options and running for something else is
injustice to those who want to continue in the field.
