Why are Guys Stronger Than Girls?

Many people know that guys are stronger than girls, but do you know the story behind it?

All of you out there know that girls are weaker than guys, there's no denying that but what is unclear is why. Some people say that it's just because guys are born stronger than girls but I say that's complete BS. When babies are born they're all the same, weak, stupid and small. There's not much difference between guys and girls at that stage but later on the difference is much more pronounced.

One reason could be the society we live in. People expect girls to not be strong so parents shape their kids to follow society's standards. This can be noticed everywhere. Sports teams that only allows guys and cheerleaders only being girls. If that were to change the expectations of people would shift.

Another could be that girls simply don't exercise enough to fully train their muscles. This also has a bit to do with society's expectations, it doesn't leave a lot of room for girls' to exercise and frankly, I don't think they want to. From what I've experienced girls find every bit of physical pain unberable and give up whenever it occurs.

I am fully against the fact that guys are just supposed to be stronger than girls. It may be true to some degree but if someone was willing to actually do something about it, they could change that fact. Take other species for instance, their females are bigger, stronger and are more vicious than the males.

Here's an example, if a guy just sits on the couch everyday while the girl jogs everyday and plays sports, the girl is bound to be in much better physical form than the guy but the fact is, not a lot of girls do that. Although some girls are crazy about their weight, they're not even willing to exercise for it. I find that disgusting. I don't mind girls who are overweight but are actually trying to overcome it. That doesn't mean normal and fit girls are scum. As long as their not wussies I believe they're fine but that doesn't mean I don't have a preference.

I think the biggest problem here is society's standards. If people didn't mind girls and guys doing different things then there wouldn't be so much of a contraversy about this.

you say that if a girl works out and a guy sits on the couch yea she is going to be stronger.. but it is scientifically proven that if the girl and the guy had the same eating habits and worked out the same amount of time... the guy would be naturally stronger that is just the way it is. girls are born with more fat and less muscle mass than guys it is a fact because they need the fat to give birth. i think you need to know all the facts.

Yeah, I think that you\'re right to some extent. True, most girls don\'t exercize because the society is really dumb and expect girls to be weak. But naturally, guys bodies are stronger in general. You know, if a guy and a girl have the same amount of work out, the guy still will be stronger. Oh...and I hope you\'re only refering to the general girls, because I am a girl, I take Martial Arts, I want to be powerful, I\'ll exercize to lose weight (but mostly to get stronger), and I would never stop eating for anything. So I guess this is adressing to the \'regular\' girl? Remember...where there\'s a society, a generalization, and \'normal\' group...there\'s always an outcast. Not all girls are like that. Girls that want to be skinny and fast, never exercize, and want to be weak don\'t deserve any recognition.

...Okay. that\'s it.

I think it is because guys have testosterone and girls have estrogen? Hormones play a huge role in muscle, strength, and aggressiveness.

Obviously a girl who exercises more than a lazy guy who sits around all day will be in better physical form, but most likely not stronger. I'm sorry but there are biological facts that cannot be changed, girls and women have the technology and sometimes can beat up guys totally on their own, but guys are still stronger because that's how it is, it does not have to with society, like guys aren't stronger than girls because society encourages them to be stronger (every society in the world guys are stronger) it's a biological fact that we're physically stronger. Like all humans have permanent biological attributes like eyes and ears and hands not because society gave us those physical features but because it's a biological permanency that we have those features, it has nothing to do with society just like the fact that guys have more muscles as a biological feature. We have no advantage and women and girls have no disadvantage, girls and women have biological features that guys do not and will never have, it's as simple as that.

Women and men are naturally different, men naturally are stronger physically but there is more to people than just physical strength,

Men all to often think themselves superior just because
they have physical strength but that strength was given to us not so that we could show off or be vain about it, but because we are meant to be protectors.

It has nothing to do with society,Also, just because a woman is made differently doesn't make her inferior, she has her own strengths and gifts she has been blessed with that we men will never possess.

By the way you said people when they are babies are "weak, stupid and small" could you be any colder? Not trying to be rude, just an observation.

It\'s funny how hard-coded our society is in all of us. I fully agree that a large part of the strength and muscular differences are societal, and no there are no scientific studies that prove that this isn\'t true, simply because they have all been done in societies where girls are treated far differently from boys from the onset.

If we treated all girls and boys the EXACT same way in all regards for their entire lives then only the hormonal differences would cause a difference in strength, and I think this difference would be less than anyone thinks because of the picture societies have painted for the entirety of their lives.

The real fact of the matter is that we don\'t know how much different they would be in a society where there are no gender roles and everyone is treated equally without any notice of their sex, and this type of society may never exist.

I do think most of the comments on this are sexist viewpoints, but they are also extremely understandible based on how biased everything in most human societies is.

Please keep society as it is.. when I want a girlfriend I want a GIRL someone who probably can get their feelings hurt easier and someone who is not really strong and likes to do girly things. If I wanted someone tough I would be gay...

yah i feel safe when a guy is strong especially a boyfriend then im protected. since guys are strong they can pick us up and carry us and its fun and its fun to play fight because they laugh at us and joke around and let us win to feel good girls will never be as strong or even close to being as strong as guys just because we dont have certain hormones and were not born like that so we should just have fun with being a girl. although some guys are scary the ones that actually mean to abuse girls with their strength but a lot of guys arent like that :)

Usually females hit puberty before males. Ever notice that alot of the time 12 year old girls are stronger than 12 year old boys? It's because during puberty, the petuitary gland excretes certain hormones that make our bodies grow, adapt, etc (you know what i mean). One of those hormones is testosterone (yes even in females), which causes muscle development. So for a brief period of time, the average girl may become stronger than the average male. The fact is, when males hit puberty, they receive alot more testosterone secretions than females do, prompting more muscle develop. That is the genetic side of things, and THE MOST influential factor.

As for society, it plays a minimal role in why males are stronger than females physically (on average). The attractive male is one who is fit, muscular and well-shaped. The attractive female is fit, but not necessarily well-toned.
