Taxation Without Representation is something that made our forefathers angry enough to go to war with one of the best organized, highly trained armies in the world. I am of course speaking of the American Revolution.
Things were not half as bad in those days than they are now. Wage stagnation Illegal immigration, and Taxes are all worse than the were in 1776. I know that The Patriot, Benjamin Martin, played by Mel Gibson in the movie, The Patriot, was a made up character, but his words stand as true today as they did in 1776, when he was called to Charlestown.
He said “Why should I give up one tyrant 3,000 miles away for 3000 Tyrants One mile away?” He continued to say “An elected legislature can trample the rights of a man just as easily as a king.” When I first heard his words I was angry, I have been and always will be an ardent Patriot.
I have always been under the notion that we the people run this nation, I have discovered however, this is not the case any more. From 9-11 we got hammered with the patriot act, from earlier than 9-11 the congress has been banning books, Banning TV Shows and editing the news we see on TV, in newspapers and on the internet.
They levy taxes, but how many of you have ever spoken with your senators or Your Reps? To those of you who have, I applaud you for your ardent patriotism. For those of you who have not shame on you.
You can not stand muzzle to muzzle with the US Army, few people could. The only way to make a change in this day and age is to contact your senators. The manner in which you serve your nation reflects upon the nation in which you serve.
All this backroom talk of raising a Military to fight a new revolution is madness. Heed my words; No nation on earth can fight the US Military. Instead of griping about how things are get out there and change things by voting on Election Days, this includes the Primaries, Contact your senators and Reps, and do something to change things. Guns and Bombs are not a solution to anything anymore. War has become virtually obsolete in today's day and age.
I would like to quote one of my favorite writers; John Lennon. He said “If you want a revolution, you can count me out.” I will not fight a fool's battle. If you want to fight do not count on me to pack a rifle with you. The Pen is mightier than the sword, and I believe I can make more changes with my editorials than any rifle could make.-JS
