Do You Have a Fashionable Name?

The names we give our children vary with the generations, but there are some that are always popular and trendy. They usually belong to a particular era.

Personal names are becoming more and more imaginative as years go by. It is now quite common to be named after a celebrity, or even a place but there are a handful of names for boys and girls that remain popular.

A survey on given names showed some remarkable similarities and contrasts.

This shows an increase in the use of "Biblical" names and a move away from modern "designer names" like Trey, Zander and Camden, Keeghan and Kai (for example.) Joshua seems to be the most popular choice for a boy. Girl's names have followed a similar pattern.

What an incredibly interesting article. It's amazing how some of the same names are the most popular all around the world. It just goes to show how inter-connected we all really are. It's a wonder.

best wishes.

Sincerely,

-Liane Schmidt.
