Chakra Clearing Exercise for Clarity of the Soul

When we feel down or "heavy" in relation to our energies it is often the result of chakras which are holding residual negative energy from our experiences, thoughts and feelings and when this happens our chakras require cleansing.

All of your senses, all of your perceptions, everything that you are or experience can be divided into seven categories and each category can be associated with a particular chakra. Chakras represent not only particular parts of your physical body but also particular parts of your consciousness and as such, understanding the chakras allows you to understand the relationship between your consciousness and your body, and to thus see your body as a map of your consciousness. Being able to look at this gives you a better understanding of yourself and those around you as in any individual there is a need for balance. This is also true of the chakras. To function well the chakras too must be balanced and the best way to balance the chakras is through meditation. Meditation can often be enhanced by using associated crystals and gemstones and by becoming more aware of these seven energy centres, you will soon learn to hone in on when one may be out of balance.

With chakras that are strong and balanced, you are sick less often and can face life with more perception, strength and courage. Just as the physical spaces we inhabit require that we clear them periodically of clutter and stagnant energy, the energetic fields that are a vital part of our being must also be cleared of old thoughts, energy, and emotions. Clearing your chakras and your aura restores and strengthens your connection to yourself and your divine inner wisdom. Unfettered by energetic baggage masquerading as fear, pain, and self-hatred, your consciousness is once again free to grow and this can be felt as a cleansing of the energy that surrounds you and a release of any stagnation or inability to move forward in your life so that you are once again energetically free to welcome new people and experiences into your life. Initially, you may not be able to see the results of your efforts, but over time you will experience a lightness of being and clarity of mind that you have otherwise not experienced for some time.

Begin by sitting or lying down on a comfortable surface. Begin to breathe deeply, concentrating on the rhythm of those breaths and clearing your mind of anything else so that you can allow your soul to connect with your spirituality and the vast expanse of the Universal Source. Visualize your base chakra, situated between your genitals and your anus and imagine if you will, a valve opening there, much like a tap. Now imagine a cord running down both your legs and penetrating deep into Mother Earth (or your spirituality) so that everything that is stagnant within you might flow through it and into the earth to be transmuted into light. Release old energy, inactive thoughts, and anything else that no longer serves you and continue to let this old energy drain out of you until you feel like there is nothing left to release. When you are done, visualise these cords sealing.

Before moving on to clear your next chakra, let vibrant terra cotta light travel upward from the earth and through the cord into your first chakra. Repeat this process with all seven of the body's chakras. The sacral chakra is orange, the solar plexus is yellow, the heart is pink and green, the throat is blue, the brow is indigo and the crown is violet. After you have infused each chakra with the appropriate light, visualize your crown chakra and draw beautiful, golden-white light from the universe so that it might flow down through the top of your head. As you do this, release any worries or fears that you have been holding on to and then draw this light into your aura and enjoy the resultant feeling of peace.

To finish clearing your energy and ensure that you have rid yourself of the last vestiges of clutter, take a bath infused with one cup apple cider vinegar, one cup Epsom salt, and one cup sea salt.

Another method

As with so many things in our lives, chakras benefit from being periodically cleansed. Negativity causes your chakras to become dull and dysfunctional and there are several ways to cleanse them (including the use of crystals, sounds and colours etc.) The best way that I have found however is through meditation.

To undertake meditation, you will need some time alone somewhere you will not be disturbed. The exercise takes approximately thirty minutes so it needs to be done at a time when nothing will interrupt you.

The first thing you need to do is sit on the floor cross-legged, keeping your back straight and maintaining a good posture. Take a few deep breaths and hold for a count of three before exhaling making sure you inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
