Color Me Happy: Seven Spiritual Colors

How colors can effect our day to day moods. Meditating on color can change our state of mind.

Each of us has a favorite color, but most don't realize that colors have an effect on our personalities, moods and behaviour. We can see color, as well as feel the vibrations of color. We describe color as vibrant, or bright or dull and we use color to describe our emotions; when angry, we see red or are in a black mood, when depressed, we are “feeling blue”. Colors can also be used to describe financial situations as well, when flush with money we are “in the green”, the bank account can be “in the red” - not so good, or “in the black”- good.

We can use colors to influence our mood by enhancing our wardrobes with them or as a part of our home color scheme. Many hospitals use calming colors on their walls like pale blues or greens to give their clients a sense of serenity and comfort. The brighter the color the more powerful the effect it will have, muted colors work in a more subtle fashion.

I have compiled a list of colors and their influences from several different resources, they can be used to meditate upon or you can do your own experimenting with clothing and contemplation to see how these colors effect your day to day emotions.
