Demon Lover

how addiction relates to possession

I recognize the fact that I will always be an addict and an alcoholic, but what really scares me is that I was born one. Alcoholism and drug addiction is generally genetic and is something that we are all predisposed of. It’s a disease, its progressive and its fatal!

Remember how innocent and subtle it started, all fun and games until it became your worst nightmare. They are cunning, they are baffling and they are powerful. They are the great deceiver, and with a gentle persuasion they’ll absorb your soul.

They are our Demon Lovers. Methos, Opious, Nico’s, Alco and the twins Cocus and Crackus. You may know them by another name, they sometimes will alter their appearance and show themselves as designer demons.

You remember all to well, when you first met how fun they were to have around, you told them that you had never experienced anything like them, you even introduced them to your wife. Remember thinking how you had it all, a good job, a nice home, a beautiful wife, and yes your Demon Lover!

You soon became inseparable. You brought them everywhere, you wouldn’t leave the house without them. And then one day it dawns on you, your demon lovers were trying to control you. What all began as fun and games was starting to become your worst nightmare.

You lost your job for missing to much work, or was it to much missing from work? It didn’t really matter because the demon lover needed all your attention. You became suspicious of them, they weren’t as fun anymore. There use to be a time that if you hadn’t seen them for a few days it was no big deal. Now you needed them, you craved them, you Loved with them and when they weren’t around you became ill. Love sick or Love Jones it was all the same, but when did you become their bitch?

So now you can’t live without them, you need their love just to get well, to fell normal. They really piss you off! There was a time in you’re life when they were everywhere and you couldn’t get rid of them, now you have to pay them just to be your friend. Bastards! Maybe your better off without them.

Your wife has been gone for a week, she left with them one night and no one has seen her since. Everything is spiraling out of control, your now convinced your demon lovers are not your friends anymore, when you told them you were sick and needed to see them, they told you that they wanted that money you owed them. When you told them you didn’t have it, they got angry and told you to get it. What the F…. you thought, who are these assholes.

Just then an old friend who you haven’t seen forever calls. You tell him how nice it is to hear from him again and decide to meet for coffee. Starbucks in twenty, it’s a date. Your really surprised to see how much weight he’s lost, and stand to greet your old friend. It’s really nice to see him, and both reflect back to a time when life was good, when you suddenly hear that inner voice, demanding and insistent, its your demon lover, he’s calling you. You try to resist, but he’s still your lover, and so you answer.

He wants to see you, and tells you to bring your friend. You don’t care, just the thought of your lover excites you, your heart pounds, the palms of your hands begin to sweat, and your bowels begin to move. So what, he wants to meet your friend. What’s the worst that could happen…

Your finally together again, all the pain and suffering is washed away as you take your lover back into your arm, and the demon reasserts itself as Lord of your life.

You wonder how could something so wrong could feel so right. But now it’s time to introduce your friend to the demon lover, and as he reaches out to take your lover into his arm….you notice something isn’t quite right, and become horrified as your best friends body goes limp and falls to the floor. He’s dead and your all alone, your demon lover has left and taken your best friend with. You panic and look down, his eyes are glazed, his pupils dilated, that’s not your friend anymore. it’s just his shell, your demon lover has taken another.

You have to get out, get your things and leave. He was your best friend, you reach down and grab the demon lovers calling card. Tears well up in your eyes, as the tape of your friendship is fast forwarded through your mind.

Your all alone now, you’ve just sacrificed the life of your best friend, and no one has seen or heard from your wife in months. The demon has deceived you once again. Remember, he is cunning, baffling and powerful.

What now! You haven’t felt right for months and there’s a voice mail from your Doctors office and he needs to talk to you right away, it’s urgent. You return the call, and then they hit you with it, your blood tests have come back, you’ve tested positive for both the hepatitis B and the H.I.V virus. Your crushed, your mind races a million miles an hour.

That bastard! You’ve given him everything. Your wealth your health, your wife and now your life.

There is nothing to live for, you have nothing left, its only a matter of time before you die, and then you discover, your demon lover has even taken your will to live.

The card, the demon lovers business card, that you removed from your friend after he was taken, and you read it. BD U100 1CC 1/2in. Strange name for a business, Call him, call him one last time, and like a gun to head, put his card to your arm. Surprised that he answered so quick? You know it‘s what he wanted all along, and as the door to your soul opens, you see your friend ….. and there’s your wife …… Hi great grandfather …….and….the door to the soul slams shut…..

The writer's metaphor between drugs and a lover helps one understand the emotional and physical depths one experience through addiction.
