Escapism and Immersion

People often view escapism as a negative process, and sure if you aim to achieve a goal (usually a long term goal) in the "real world", then escapism can be a detriment to your aim.

In the beginning there was nothing. And then..... It exploded.

Escapism is generally understood as when we avoid or ignore unpleasant, tedious or otherwise undesirable aspects of the day to day world we live in by retreating (or is it advancing?) into a fantasy world. Books, television, games, drugs, dreams, a project pursued exclusively, and even whole social lives can be diversions from a more consistent background reality.

A reality that involves suffering, boredom, hardship, frustration, anxiety, fear and mania to name a few.

But if we repeatedly avoid these things as a consistent and valid part of our experience, then we begin to divorce ourselves from a cohesive understanding of what is actually going on in our lives. We become blinded to our role in perpetuating some of these negatives and instead start to attribute causes in the outside world. Or

When an outside cause is creating unwanted pressure, we can't see how best to navigate our way through it.

We have a distorted map or our reality and cant see the forest for the trees.

So..

If indeed we do have goals, a goal being a future point on your map of experience, then yes escapism is usually a detrimental factor to us in achieving those goals.

So what's my point.

Well I'm a touch biased in that i recognize reincarnation as fact.(not sure of the schematics, y'know like does one soul always remain intact or do we perhaps go back into some sorta melting pot and new souls are created with elements of experience from previous ones??)

Given that we have all the time in the world, even if we monkeys extinguish our current form of existence on Earth, we continue as spirit,

to experience. So really then escape all you want if it suits you, even if it doesn't, your gonna do it anyway. We are hardwired as products of a world of duality(opposites) and we constantly oscillate between poles of experience and desire.

Short term goals will often sabotage long term ones.

Until we personally evolve to a state of higher consciousness where we can view the larger more inclusive and expansive map of our world we will always be drawn to some form of escapism.

In the beginning there was nothing.

And then.....

It exploded.

God(call it what you will) got bored.

She separated himself into countless fragments of itself and scattered them as far apart as is godly possible. Each fragment containing the innate memory of it's ancestry but being unable to define itself without reflection of it's surroundings.

Many fragments of a mirror all reflecting and wondering. What? How? Where? Who? Why!?

And so the journey begins.

Aeons and aeons of growth, change and development occur in the blink of an I.

God plays hide and seek with itself.

Creatures grow with the capacity of self awareness and self reflection.

"Who am I and what is this other, this background from which I have sprung and to which i compare myself"

In the countless forms we encounter we feel and explore a myriad of experiences from the most extreme terror to the most sublime bliss and all the subtle shades in between. We have variety.

As we grow in awareness we begin to discover consistency in this world of variety and see a common universal thread humming within all. If we are drawn to focus on this thread we begin to see a tapestry in which all apparently separate phenomena are connected.

We discover the divine.

We remember (re member) that we a are a part of the universal soul and bring to our conscious mind that which has always been. We can now consciously approach reunion with this "other" and eventually find boundaries and distinctions blurring and overlapping until there is no "other". This slowly growing apprehension, this mind melting and dissolving, this absolutely soul and spirit shaking experience is the fucking bees knees! It is the journey of more than a lifetime.

This journey is called "Awe"

I like it.

Without the original escaping act of the All(the divine masterpiece)

this could not occur.

without separation there is nothing to come back to.

So Escapism is the partner of Immersion.

Their dance is that of two lovers.

And an art form of the divine.
