God and Rational Thinking

A logical look at the coherence that exists within the universe and points to intelligent design being the originator of life as we know it.

As a child I used to lie on the grass and gaze into the sky knowing and feeling that something incredible was there and wondering what it was. Now I gaze into the sky and have a clearer idea of what it is; not through empirical proof but through life experience and much deep thinking.

It is said that we cannot prove the existence of God and yet Stephen Hawking claims that we are drawing closer to being able to do just this. Einstein and Darwin were believers. Though I think that Science may hold keys to eventually unlocking knowledge about God I presume that it is in the mind that we must begin our search. No scientist ever accomplishes anything without first thinking about it. Karl Barth, a great theologian during his life time, wrote that we need to open the skylights of our minds. This is what I've been doing for some time and here is the point I've reached:

Energy is! In other words it cannot be destroyed or simply removed and it cannot be conjured up from nothing. Therefore the energy that is around now must have always been. It took some form of energy for the Big Bang to occur so before it there was something, there was energy.

Anyone can see in the universe around us that there exists an intelligence but not of a kind that has been artificially created, as in computers but intelligence that has existed as long as time itself. I suggest that this intelligence, like energy, existed before the Big Bang because we can see coherence in it. The conditions needed for the earth to be full of life are perfect yet the odds of it occurring are phenomenal!

Could this all be accidental; let's take a closer look. Why do you always find doc leaves growing near to stinging nettles? Doc leaves are the antidote to the nettles sting. How do they know to grow close together? How do birds acquire their migration instincts and whales the knowledge to know the way to the place they all die? The answer is that there is an inherent intelligence within the universe that must have always been.

Gravity is a good example of the coherence that exists in the universe; without it we would float away! Gravity is in a mutual relationship with the earth. Something that is completely without intelligence could not form this alliance. The moon controls the tides of the sea; another partnership.

To conclude; energy, matter and intelligence were all needed to bring about the universe as we see it, therefore they were around before our time began.

If you agree with me that energy and intelligence existed before the Big Bang in order for it to have happened then perhaps you'll consider that we can say this is God?
