Thank You

A short devotional on showing appreciation.

Longer Scripture Reading: Read Psalm 118: 1-29

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth forever. - Psalm 118:1(KJV)

Many a times we feel let down when we gout of our way to do a favor for someone who refuses to acknowledge our good deed. Remember a kind gesture of allowing someone who appears to be in a hurry to take your turn on the line? It sure feels good when he responds with a “thank you”. His appreciation sets the tone in you to want to repeat the similar good deed again.

If he shows an unconcerned attitude, gets in front of you on the line as if nothing happened, you will think in your mind “how ungrateful one can be”.

When we refuse to show appreciation, we are denying God. This is because it is God that always works in us to do, to will of His good pleasure. Saying “thank you” is not just to the person doing a good deed, but to God working in that person.

Saying thank you to one another and especially to God, our father is a sure way of receiving more blessings. Appreciation encourages the repetition of positive actions.

Prayer: Father give me a heart of praise and sincere thanksgiving. That I will not take you and you're your good deeds through people for granted.

Thought for the Day: An unappreciated good deed is like a personal loss to the armed robbers. --- A Yoruba proverb.

Prayer Focus: The unappreciative individual.
