Inside every woman there is a beautiful goddess….
This is the catchy slogan Gillette is currently using to promote its razors for women. In my opinion it’s a brilliant way to attract the female audience…and then really irritate them! Who realistically believes that shaving your legs with this particular brand of razor is going to turn them into a goddess? It’s easy to agree the women on the advert are beautiful but it definitely isn’t the razor they are using that made them that way, in fact it would probably be a safe bet to suggest those women do not shave anyway but wax like the majority of modelling professionals do.
The advert seems to be designed to “empower” women by convincing them that a Venus razor is going to transform them, the reality is after twenty four hours the goddess revealed is going to be just a little bit on the stubbly side. Perhaps Gillette should take a leaf out of Dove’s book and actually show adverts with realistic looking women in them.
