You are a single mother with small children. Your job is not paying well, but must do until you find another, better paying one. By the time you pay for baby sitters and food and clothing for your children, there is not much left.
Rent day arrives and you just don't have it all and ask the landlord if you can pay the following week. He says no, you will be evicted, but he makes it known how you can cut the rent payment in half. All you have to do is have sex with him.
There was a time when you would have been outraged, but with no friends and no family to look to for help, you are faced with the stark reality of you and your children being out on the street with no roof over your head. What was once an outrage and unthinkable becomes a life line that is hard to let pass by.
I read about this actually happening and that is what prompted this article........
So what do you think about this situation?
How far should a person go to survive?
Is your reaction possibly something like..."there are other alternatives."
Or..."how could she do that?"
Or..."what was she thinking?"
Yet on the other hand some might think...
"Well, prostitutes sleep with many different men every day....week after week. And this poor woman is prostituting herself to survive a dire situation, not to make a living at it."
Or..."A mother must do what she must in order to protect her children. Who are we to judge?"
For some, the answer it seems would be a no-brainer, and that answer would be "no! never!"
Others I believe would see it from the mother's point of view and would do what has to be done in order to ensure the well-being of her children.
One thing is for sure. Either way, I would be looking for a new home as soon as possible.
