Gender bias or discrimination against women, has a great effect on the general well being of women and girls in Nepal. There are two main effects of this discrimination.
The first effect is on women's health.Since the family is male dominated woman's health is not considered a priority. Many times the women ignore their health problems and go to the doctor when it is not possible to ignore the issue anymore.
The second effect is on women's education. Despite the efforts by the Nepali government, more then half of the female population in the country is uneducated. Parents, especially in the rural areas, feel that a daughter will go to her husband's house eventually, so there is no benefit in educating them.
Therefore, one can see that discrimination against women has serious effects on Nepal's women and also the society as a whole since half of its population is denied the opportunities to advance.
