Women At Work: How to Get That Promotion?

You can do it. You can get it, provided you’re willing to take the chance. Don’t just dream about it, make it happen and grab that promotion that you’ve been dreaming of. However, by getting that promotion, you have to assert yourself into certain task. In order to get it, you need to be aware about a certain issues regarding the status of women in the working arena.

These issues can becomes the stumbling block on women’s career, which stop women to improve. These are:

  1. Women can’t take bigger responsibility.
  2. Women are too emotional and can’t handle tough things.
  3. Women in management job lost their sense of femininity.
  4. Women can’t handle two jobs, if they do- one will suffer.
  5. Women are weak, sensitive and irritable. They can’t do the job very well.

These are just presumptions and a bias analysis regarding women. Oftentimes, women will always come up with this perception if they choose career or family, while they can do both. A traditional way that a women should stay in the house, taking good care of their children and their husband has nothing to do with what women want in their career. Of course women can do both, granted she’s willing to meet that success.

Sometimes, women are confused between being a woman and being a success. So, don’t listen to this certain predicament. It will only stop you of doing your will of promotion.

However, if you want to get that promotion, you have to assert yourself and prove to the management that you’re the right person for the certain position.

  1. Confidence

    Self-confidence is always the winning one. It is the first step to climb up the next big step. You have to believe in yourself that you can do the impossible and can fight whatever comes in your way. Assert yourself to the point that people will believe you, trust you and have a confidence that you’re the right person on a certain position. Confidence is a matter on how you present yourself, the image that you’re going to play. No one will trust you, if you don’t have a trust in yourself and no one will give you a promotion when you doesn’t know how to handle yourself. If your treat yourself like a winner, people will see you as one.
  2. Build a Good Rapport in Your Working Arena

    Don’t act like a brat. Behavior like this only develop trouble and negative impressions. It isn’t welcome and it only come up with a bad result. Initiate a platonic relationship with co-workers with the sense of professionalism. Through this, they may know who you are and what kind of person they’re dealing with.
  3. Don’t be Stuck

    This means that don’t get stuck to a certain position, or don’t get stuck to a dead-end job. If you want to climb up or even get your boss position, you can. Just don’t be contented to a position you’ve always wanted.
  4. Find an Ally

    Find someone powerful. A big person next to your boss or a powerful person who can be your supporter and help you get that promotion. Then, make an impact. Sell yourself but not to the point that you’re being aggressive. Step by step, little by little, this allies will see your potentials and abilities.
  5. Speak Up

    When there’s a certain issue and situations in the company. Speak up. Don’t wait others to speak for you. Speak for yourself assertively. Make a point and build a lasting impression. If you need to take that certain assignments, accept it. Avoid procrastination. Act, move and build. In this way, they will be certain that you’re one of the top candidates for a particular position.
  6. Be Dynamic

    You should be resourceful and knowledgeable. Learn to learn new technologies, money, taxes and events. You have to dynamically assertive.

If you know how to build yourself in front of others, especially to your boss, I’m certain that you can get it. Don’t just be contented on one thing. Learn to be a women who can get that promotion on her own. Avoid dirty tactics. It can lower down your dignity and you may loss all your confidence by playing nasty. Always play it by the rule.
