As retirees here the sunshine and palm trees of Florida calling them, they may hear the abundance of full and part-time income opportunities, also. Whether you choose to live by the ocean, the gulf, or inland, Florida is a great state for seniors. Just ask the tens of thousands who migrate there to retire each year.
If you opt to live inland, you will be able to choose from many jobs that are not always tourist oriented. Much of the interior of the Florida peninsula is populated with citrus trees and produce production. For those who want to work part-time and enjoy the warm Florida atmosphere, the orange groves may be a place to start. You can work among the trees or in the plants that grade and ship oranges across the nation.
Real estate is still relatively hot in Florida because of all of the new people heading there. Even away from the beaches, selling real estate can be a profitable occupation. Many times, once you have your license, agencies will work with you to accommodate whatever hours you are willing to work. Obviously, as you work harder in this field, your income can rise exponentially.
Orlando always is clamoring for more warm bodies to put in its theme parks, restaurants, and other businesses that serve the publics needs. The pay is not always great, but often the working conditions are relaxed and pleasurable.
Move eastward or westward to Florida's big attraction, and you can find work serving the millions who come from around the world to enjoy the beaches. On the gulf side you can start at Pensacola and work your way through Panama City, Tampa, Clearwater, and Fort Meyers. These are magnets for people of all ages and interests.
The businesses that spring up near the beaches reflect the eclectic tastes of the tourists and residents. Many of these shops need employees. While some of the work can be seasonal, most of it goes on all year.
Down the eastern side of Florida beginning at Jacksonville and ending south of Miami, the same is true along the almost unending beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and beach employment opportunities for mature workers who are dependable.
Employment can be found in investment businesses that care for the all of the funds that retirees bring along when they move to Florida. Some of these opportunities can be quite lucrative as even part-time or temporary jobs. Along with investments, there is also a booming travel industry in Florida. Learning the ropes and getting involved is relatively easy and quick.
The only real concern about Florida employment for seniors is trying to decide what to job to seek. Why choose? Set yourself a plan and try lots of different jobs. Work at one for a year or so and move on. You are retired. Do not chained to one job. With a guaranteed income showing up in the bank every month, take some risks and try jobs that you never thought you would enjoy. If you were right, just move on to the next one.
