If you're a teenager or adult now, you know how important it is to have money. Especially now, in a recession, there is little chance of you getting a good job without a good education, and some experience in your desired area of work. The most important thing to remember when you look for a job is stay persistent. If you don't get the first few jobs, keep trying and keep advertising. If you are a teenager, try putting up signs for your business or asking neighbors if they are interested in your service.
To Teenagers
Advertising is the most important part about securing a job as a teenager, especially in a neighborhood with a lot of kids. If you put up signs, talk to neighbors and show that you want the job, you will most likely get it. First, you'll have to think of an idea that you can profit off of. Basic ideas are lawn care, babysitting, and pet sitting. Once you chose an idea, you need to make sure people know about it! Most people will happily hire you, once they realize you are looking. Put up signs advertising your job, ask your neighbors. The most important thing is to let people know! If you know your parents friends are going away for a vacation, talk to them and ask them if you can do anything for them while they are gone.
Several Ideas:
Lawn Care
Pet Sitting
Babysitting
Cleaning Services
Tutoring Services
Once you've landed a job, you need to perform your best and make a good impression on your hirer. If you are sloppy, chances are they will not hire you again. If you do a great job, and impress them, they will probably hire you later, and maybe even tell others about your service!
To Young Adults (16+)
Getting a job at this age is essential. No more goofing around, you need to get serious about finding a job. If you have no experience, then start off with a basic job. Experience can not hurt you, and sometimes these basic jobs show you another career you've never thought of! If you don't start somewhere realistic, you won't get anywhere. It is important also to learn good work habits and absorb as much knowledge as you can. If you want to be a fashion designer, but you have no experience and know you won't get the job, try to become a secretary of the fashion designer. Any job is good as long as you learn more about your industry and learn good habits. Obviously if you've gone to college and you have the experience, try for the best job you can get.
Small jobs you can start out with:
Secretary or Clerk
Bagger, server, or register manage at a retail store
