The Look of Success

How to be successful and confident at work.

In today’s society, a person with good looks is of utmost importance. It’s a fact because good-lookers earn 12 to 17 percent more than their less fetching colleagues due to their higher level of confidence, as reflected in their work performance. So if you do not have superstar look, you can fake a superstar confidence.

Show Off Your Smile

If you feel nervous, you also look it. To fake the look of a savvy executive, look into the eyes of the person you’re talking to and smile. This shows that you’re confident and that you have everything under control.

Smile and be confident at work

Be Nice to Your Critics

Paris Hilton doesn’t shy away when the paparazzi shove cameras into her face. Similarly, don’t retreat into a corner when you spy your boss' bitchy PA nearby. You may ask her how she is instead. It’ll surely shock her out of her power-tripping ways.

Be in the Spotlight

Confidence is like a fat cell – feed it and it’ll grow. The more you speak up, the more sure you are of your place in the team and the easier it is to contribute, so make sure you’re one of the first to speak up at the next brainstorming session.

Rise to the Occasion

Office stars are the ones with the brightest sparks. If your supervisor says no for the sake of it, keep your brilliant ideas till the big boss is around and impress him/her with your seemingly off-the-cuff ideas.
