Web Developer

Job description of a web developer.

Would you like to have one of today's up and coming jobs? Then you should consider becoming a web developer. Web developers work with coding languages to create, manage, and update websites for whom they are employed by. In today's market the Internet is a very important source of media for any organization or business. Many of these businesses, organizations, and groups need websites to inform clients or potential customers.

Web developers must see an image or a vision in their head then bring it to the computer using coding skills. A web developer may use coding languages such as HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) or Java to create their envisioned websites. These languages use tags, which identify certain properties, which will show up in a certain way for different values entered in to them.

Many elements go into creating a website, including style, content appearance, and how well the site functions. Many things are needed for all of these elements, such as background color, images, font size, font style, font color, matching themes, hyperlinks or links, and many more things. A developer must know how to manage all of these elements to their own advantage with good organization too make an efficient attractive website.

A web developer will be expected to meet standards set by the employer, as well as other programming standards. The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) is a code of rules expected to be met by all valid websites. This code is created and updated by programmers themselves so it is very relevant and up to date. If a website does not meet these standards it is considered invalid and generally looked down upon. But most employers give standards for their website to meet, many times this gives the web developer a varying level of optional creativity in making a website.

Many web developers are not just web site creators, they also must maintain and update them. Because of information constantly needing to be changed in today's age of instant updating, the websites must be updated frequently. Web developers may wear many hats in a company though. Some manage servers, some work with hard ware; some create web based soft ware. The role of a web developer changes because of the size of the employing company. Generally computer skills are one of the best skills to have if you wish to have a decent job today.

Many people specialize in different sections of programming. This is because of the increased simplicity of web development these years. There are two general positions, front end programming, and back end programming. Front end usually is the base programming. Back end usually is the detailing work and finishing for the website. It is not uncommon for these to be divided, but many times one person or team may work on both ends..

A web developer's starting salary starts around $30,000 and an average salary is around $75,000. Most web developers work an average day (nine to five). A bachelor's degree in computer science is almost a necessity if applying. Any other degrees such as artistic designing may be very useful and may make you more qualified but not required.

A web developer is a very good position to have these days. It is very interesting and requires a strong sense of creativity, but can be very structured and has a very reliable income. Today's market for Internet resources is increasing greatly. Even most small businesses, organizations, groups, and companies have information, which would benefit their clients or customers if this information was available online, which is what a web developer must do.
