Tips on What to Expect as a Language School Employee.

Planning to work in a language school? Greeting the client is cardinal and the way I got reacquainted was by finding out if he/she needed a placement test and if they did, I supplied them with the exam, told them how long it should take, inform them of an oral to follow and then tell them to return it back to me once they finished.Often enough the prospective client will not say what they have dropped in for or what the intention of their visit is. It is through basic key questions to find out if it is a prospective student coming for the test or a teacher looking for part-time work.

It might help if you had those organizational skills for real and that is being able to anticipate changes in a small conversational class without the school director telling you that the class can hold an extra person and without waiting for you to create a new file for a registered student. Then of course one has to get the director to show you how she fills in a schedule for group student, showing then when the student will have have her final lesson or when billing the client's employment should occur. Sometimes schools are ill-equipped and the director will not take sufficient time on her own to put the secretarial trainee through the ropes, then of course the novice has to ask those necessary questions like,'how do you want me to enter the information' and "where do you want me to keep those files."

Now if you have ever operated a small business that has accepted business cards, the same rules applies here to accept them. They have to be swiped and the person has to receive a copy. Schools normally keep track sheets that shows which students are attending individual courses and which group ones. These sheets are usually checked against the registration file for the student to see that he is entered properly and inform the director of when a payment is due. This are gridded sheets that provides a small space for you to enter a student name or code.

These days the employee should inform himself of what he will be up against before accepting the job. Often there sre job places where the duties are not clearly outlined and the employee is left doing multiple functions that he wasn't prepared for. On the other hand with smaller operations it is more common for the employer to expect the employee to do a variety of functions.
