A few days later, a voyage was planed to study the transit of Venus: a planet that has a boiling surface. But he also had a secret task to do: he was asked to find all about the east coast of The Great Southern Land (Australia). The day before his 1st voyage, he wanted to find a ship. James wanted a ship that has a flat bottom and that its safe in the storms but he doesn't care about speed. A few hours later after this, he found one: the Endeavor. It was truly that this ship has a flat bottom. It can go around 10 knots. It was not fast, but it was safe. He woke at around 7,o,clock in England, then left around 7:30 for his first voyage!

Then, everyone thought they were going back to England except Cook as we know. They were heading to New Zealand and The Great Southern Land (Australia).

New Zealand and Australia

They had reached the east coast of New Zealand days after they departed Tahiti.James and his crew got off the Endeavour and explore the east New Zealand then map it. After that, he and his crew departed from New Zealand so they can explore the Great South Land. They had reached the Great South Land east coast in 1770.

The Botanists started to started to study plants. Then one day, James Cook saw stingrays in the sea. He quickly named it Stingray Bay. Then they went to the bay then botanists came out of the ship and study the plants. James Cook was so amazed with the result of the plants that he renamed the bay Botany Bay. He then carefully mapped the east coast and set back to England

Back to England

Captain Cook and his crew had enough of studying New South Wales(Australia). So they went back to England. It took around 1 and a half years to get back to England. When they got back, he showed his map to the king of England and thought that this is not the map of the Great South Land but it was. The King also said that Cook tried hard to do it so he gave him lots of money.
