Any female originating from the Indian sub-continent would be so familiar with the word “dowry”. Some would look at it fearfully. Most would be anxious about it. And there would still be some who would look at it distastefully. (I belong to this category). But overall, there would be an attitude of resigned acceptance. You just cannot avoid it, especially if you come from this specific continent. No matter where you would be living currently. It is part and parcel of “Marriage”.
