There are many causes of WWII, however there are three distinctive reasons why the war was started: The signing of the Nazi-Soviet Pact, Hitler's foreign policies and the Appeasement.

When malicious powers strive to conquer, decimate and destroy with no remorse, when a despicable force so malevolent and powerful that entire nations cannot halt its advance, what possesses a chivalrous band of university students to pose a challenge to such an indubitably invincible foe? The ‘"White Rose," using pamphleteering and other clandestine methods, attempted to rally the people of Germany against the oppressive rule of the Nazi Party, and their extremist-cum-supremacist policies of genocide and imperialism. Who were these intrepid, courageous and ultimately doomed subverters, whose legacy will greatly out-live their demise?

Eugenics or breeding for purity was perverted by Hitler and taken to horrific extremes. An estimated 250,000 disabled people were murdered and many thousands of others sterilized between 1931 and 1945.

When I heard severeal years ago that a bomb had been developed to kill people and spare buildings, I thought the bomb's inventor had to be mad. Surely we identify with the people, whatever their language or race, in a war zone? Sometimes in that zone coping with a lot of little battles adds up to survival.
