You’ve heard the old proverb: “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for life.” What would happen if you gave him a daily ration of fish for the rest of his life, and then extended that gift to each member of his family for several generations? My theory is that this family would soon become dependant on the handout, and eventually lose the will to fish for themselves.
