We are raising a generation of spoiled brats. We are afraid to make them accountable for their actions. We stopped using physical punishment, for fear of government's intervention.

The transition from middle school to high school can be traumatic for some kids. We, as teachers, have the responsibility of facilitating the process and detect possible acts of bullying.

A few quiet students in each class are ignored by the teacher because they are not a problem. Yet, these children may suffer from deep emotional problems and need urgent help.

Punishment, Discipline and Students

Many students are at risk of ending up in prison or dead. Family problems cause them to seek attention by disrupting classes. Public schools are not doing enough because of a lack of funds. Sports and military education work best with these extreme students.

Language Difficulties Between Children and Adults

We communicate with children and yet they do not understand. We have forgotten how we were as kids. A teacher must bond with every student. Using words like "sweetie" only irritates the student. Get to know them personally.

Envy and jealousy are destructive feelings; you can fight them by concentrating on the positive. Enjoy life; it's too short to squander in pettiness. Beauty is all around you; open your eyes and enjoy it.

Too many children drop out before graduating from high school, thereby creating a serious social problem. Who is to blame? The system that puts too much pressure on them with the "No Child Left Behind" Act.

Chasing Happiness
